When we realised that the Cascate delle Marmore were more than half way to Rome, we decided on an unscheduled trip to the Forum.
Getting in was surprisingly easy - we even found a free parking space 20 minutes walk from the Colosseum. Of course the flipside of that saying 'all roads lead to Rome' is that it's impossible to get out!

Hmmm, seems the consequences could be a new show at the Colosseum: throwing defaulters to the lions. Better pay up!

There's an irritating postscript to this story... Eighteen months after our trip, I received a €110 ticket for driving in a bus lane in Rome. Not happy! Still deciding whether to pay up or face the consequences!
